Fixing dents in tubes
« on: September 15, 2006, 08:04 PM »
The headtube on my frame has a dent, rounded rather than sharp, about 5mm diameter.

As it's an inch from the end of the tube I'm hoping it's accessible enough to fix, rather than hide it with filler.
The problem is how can I apply pressure to the dent from inside the headtube to push the tube back into shape?

Maybe some sort of clamp and a shaped piece of metal/wood inside the tube? The clamp would have to be small.
Or maybe a metal bar and a hammer? Can't see how I'll be able to focus enough pressure this way, that headtube looks to be thick tubing.

Maybe just leaving it is the best option too, not sure.

Any advice appreciated, thanks  :)
