A rare bit of British BMX
« on: July 30, 2017, 07:39 PM »
Last week a was given a really special frame by Nick (who started Charge Bikes). Long story short in 2003 when Charge started, he made 8 custom titanium BMX frames called the "Charge Bikes Grill". The bikes were given to team riders but never went into production. 4 went to UK riders, 2 went to Australia, and the other 2 got lost in time.

Earlier this month Charge was cleaning up their warehouse though and Nick stumbled across a NOS one that was wrapped up and hidden in the back. Knowing I collect BMX bikes he very kindly contacted me and asked me if I wanted to add it to my collection. Safe to say I am over the moon, and I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the build.

Here are a few pics of the frame and a shot of me and Nick when he gave it to me.

Just amazing  :4_17_5:

Bit of extra white tape and that would easily spell 'griff'  ;D

Are you going to build it up Jon?

Yes I'd love to build it but have a few other projects to finish up first. Will start picking up bits and pieces for it as they come along, but will get stuck in properly when a few others are wrapped up.  :daumenhoch:

70s musicians aside, that's a stunning-looking frame! :coolsmiley: & excuse my ignorance but what was it built for - race, freestyle, dirt?
