Old school saddle to pivotal seat post
« on: April 03, 2017, 09:58 PM »
OK, OK, so...... I am convinced that this question must have been asked before, but I am too lazy to search, and google threw up diddly squat......

Does anyone know how to attach an old school saddle, with rails and shit, to a new school setup (25.4mm, typically pivotal)?

Thanks,

Dirty. x

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

Also look for a DK Goal post, that's what I run on the Goose (which you could've bought and wouldn't have to have looked for one)  ;D

S&M made a set of rail clamps that bolted to the top of a pivotal post, think it was called P-Guts or something.

Old school railed saddle to 25.4mm post eh :chin:...... you're building a mk1 Burner aren't you Rich

 :2funny:

Plenty of post choices for you mate as a lot of 90's and noughties road bikes and mountain bikes use integrated 25.4mm seatposts, I have one on my '91 Marine Bear Valley in the garage. I'd get to a local scrapyard and salvage one, but be careful as more modern ones use 27.2mm as well i think. I could also be wrong, but wasn't the Shimano DX seatpost combo available in 25.4mm as well if you really want the oldschool look on a newschool bike mate? Might be difficult to find but if you want to get it really oldschool looking that would be my answer :coolsmiley:

:) What you need is this:)

wouldn't you need to drill a hole through your saddle to tighten the bolt though?

OSP products, a guy oh Facebook makes 25.4 lay back, straight posts that are reduced down to take a railed seat.
