Damn this hobby.... why is it so addictive?
« on: March 27, 2017, 05:22 PM »
Not done a build thread for (literally!) years but back in Dec Mark Wini put his brand new WTP Versus f&f up for sale and it caught my eye. Several months later with the loft looking very empty after the departure of my last o/s bike, I fancied building something up so I bought the f&f off Mark when he was passing me a few weeks back..... next thing I know I bought a few bits for it so will keep you posted :daumenhoch:

Here's Wini's original advert pic - damn this addictive hobby..... damn it :2funny:

Hobby? Fooking hobby? Get yourself on a knitting course if you want a hobby  :D

Lovely frame set that, just couldn't justify two park bikes when I never get to use one these days...

Get her built Sven

Haha, yep it is well nice..... but yes, a bit loud in the colour dept :2funny:

Probably gonna swap all the colours on to my reserve park bike, my WTP Zodiac and put the black onto this, but not sure yet as  now have 4 n/s bikes if you include the 22" Faction and my Knightgoose so plenty of swapping about to be done :2funny: :idiot2: :idiot2:

So I got myself a set of nice matching WTP bars, a Salt stem or my blue DK, got a blue 25T Porkchop snowflake sproket and some shiny new gold Alienation Black rims to build up with some hubs I have lying about. So basically a gastly blue, gold and luminous yellow mess to sort out once the headset lands

Thing is with n/s you start getting obsessed by lightness so i found myself wieghing the stems.....

I wonder if the DK will be lighter when I strip the black spraybomb off to get it back to blue again?

Cheers Ed. I got a brand new pair of Salt tyres in the deal when I bought it but would prefer a tan-wall on the gold rims - what colour are yours, are they the grey wall ones you used to ride  ???

So the man fro China got my headset to me safe and sound and I got a bit further......

Obviously not digging the blue but the gold is ok, so found another seat. Got the rear wheel built up and dropped it into Jack at Waller BMX for truing up (as I'm terrible at that bit!) and he's looking for a bolt to fit the drive side crank arm for me as it's gone MIA. Still got to figure out where the AD brake springs are (as I've lost them as well!) and shorten the brake cable in order to set the brake up......oh and i need to find a fine-thread M24 pre-load stem nut but it's nearly there :daumenhoch:

Here it is in the sun - fook me it's bright :coolsmiley: :2funny:

I wonder when Griff will be along to tell me off about the drop-outs on the stone step....... :buck2:

Good to see you back in the game, Spen; also glad to see that great NS package from Wini go to someone who will appreciate riding it, as well as enjoy building it.

I'm feeling the love again, peeps, and it would appear others are, too!

Good to see you back in the game, Spen
Rich you never get out of the game mate, you just have a rest every now and then :2funny:

So just a couple of low res pics to update this thread. Managed to track down replacement bits for all the parts I'd lost while hoarding in case I found a nice n/s frameset.... got the wheel trued up and the pre-load bolt for the forks (cheers to Jack at Waller BMX) so here it is. Just waiting for some help from fellow radsters for the springs to finish the caliper and I can ride it, but got to admit I actually really like the all-black tyres on it which is a first

Here it is with my trust WTP Zodiac which looks very sobre and clinical in comparisson :2funny:

Finally although she has a bit to grow yet, my 8yr daughter is well pleased with it :smitten:
