hey guys I have just bought an amazing 1974 bike for my lovely wife its in a bit of a bad way I have a huge tub but what can I use for the best results shes got quite a bit of surface rust and want to give it a couple of days to soak #

Citric acid is the way to go! Much better than the oxalic stuff  :daumenhoch:

being slightly more serious - there should be plenty of info on here, but one top tip is to fill plastic bottles with water and put them in the gaps (so you need less water to begin with). I would have a look but just about to leave the office...

I hate to be a smarta**e, but you need the same amount of water if you fill the plastic bottles with water- you just need less citric acid bath water.

You know what I meant  :teef:
When I did an old frame before using oxalic acid we'd not long done the recycling so I used bricks to fill up the spaces between the frame tubes - they came up lovely and clean as well  :daumenhoch:
