78 Redline MXll
« on: March 08, 2017, 12:24 AM »
Hey All.

This finally arrived today. Been on a journey from California to the UK. Araya 7B's laced to Campagnolo Nouvo Tipo hubs. Cheng Shin front and Kenda rear tyres. Cranks are 170 Campagnolo Srada. Diacompe brake. Unstamped microline bars with Ame grips. Slimline stem and unknown seat clamp. Saddle is Hsin Lung. Repop pads.  It has been powder coated and can't see the serial number. A few nicks in the powder but liking the yellow.
Just unwrapped it but loving the look.

Cheers Marty! Well worth the wait. A few bits to do on it. It's been ridden and has some small nicks but overall ok. No more bikes now for a while? Lol.

Thank you In2.  When i googled 7Bs this came up in the search so spoke to the owner about selling wheels and cranks. Worked out easier to get all the other bits attached. Can't wait to ride it.

Oh yeah. Redline & Campy goodness. Doesn't get much better.   The crank arms are the same part number for both Record & Super Record [it was the chainrings that made the difference] & machined for double chainrings makes it a strada crankset. Same as on my Retro Racer.
Nuovo Tipo hubs were the base level at the time for Campy but Hey, they're Campy, everything else is less anyway, & yes, I run them with Weinmanns [same shape as 7B].
The unbranded Microline bars are the US made examples & you guessed it, I have some & they are my preffered choice for pre 1982.

That is one cool score & clearly you are a man of impecible taste in both bikes & componentry.
[No, I don't have a Redline but will be using some very early Redline forks]

Congratulations, now go shout yourself a pint of your favorite, you deserve it.   :daumenhoch:
I'll be building Quickies till the day I die, ..... & maybe a couple of days after that.

Thank you CDBMX for the information. I will check part numbers on the cranks. Found some on Google last night but too tired and excited. Put it back in it's box so didn't put the pedals on. It came with mint caps and some KKT rat traps.
It really has blown me away with all the comments and interest. Looks like i will be keeping the little dude for a while. Change some parts and ride it. 3 Redlines is enough for the time being.
Gaining knowledge and friends along the way is such a great thing with this hobby  :smitten:

Thanks Carl for the offer! Have a couple of pairs of pedals. Some HTI's for my Proline.

Will post pics of this when the weather picks up. Roll on the summer  :daumenhoch:
