A bit closer to home now. I took these early to mid eighties shots during a session at Stiffneck's ramp,close to Alan's original shop in Hindley near Wigan.

In the spring of 1985 I got the go-ahead from my boss at Manchester City Council to build a state of the art half-pipe in one of the squash courts at the Ardwick Sports Centre. I'd already acquired the ramp plans from the U.S. the year before so we were all set to make the leap from home-made backyard ramps to a pro-rated vert ramp.

Into the 90's and some of you on here may remember the 'lock-ins' at Bones Skatepark in Stockport.
This is what happened when myself and Dave Arnold (ex Robinson for Alans) got our hands on a pile of wood...

1984 and a time before the internet was invented and I was buying U.S. BMX videos from the states and getting them converted so they would play on british tv,an expensive 'do' at the time. This is a letter from Jeanne Hoffman asking me for missing credit card details for a King of the Skateparks video I'd bought from them. They sent it before I'd even paid for it... very trusting.
