Andy told me late 84 recently as I was contemplating using one on my 84 Ripper build but I've gone for a suntour because it's a UK inspired build and it's what I remember wanting bitd :daumenhoch:

I have a pro neck 1 on my VDC changa build, which is a March 84 frame. My GJS freestyler is an 85, and has a pro neck 2.

A number of magazine ads justs lists them as 'pro neck stem' in spring/summer 84, and doesn't state whether they are a 1 or 2. This ad from December '84 bmx action bike specifies pro neck II, so they were probably available a little before this. Autumn 84 would be the best estimate  :daumenhoch:

Pro Neck 2's were an "improved" version of the original pro neck as they cracked!

The stem caps broke in half horizontally level with the bottom of the cap screw holes . Flawed billet . Hence the new definition.

Thanks guys....I've just scored a great minty white one from the Museum with a potts mod ready for an early Pro Performer I'm knocking up....I'm now sure I've got it right time wise. I'm trying to build it up as another example of mid-eighties Freestylin' bike that's been added to.

Cool. So spring '84 onwards and a pro neck II is fine. Perfecto! Good luck with the build  :)
