Hard anno? ... or not! as the case may be :-)

I've got some Primo cranks.

Not painted as Synstrip won't touch them.

Not normal anno as Oven Pride won't touch it.

I know you can get 'Hard Anno' ... so what will shift that?

I bought a bullseye powerdisc a while back that was hard anno. Neither oven pride or super strog caustic soda would touch it. I was getting it re-chromed anyway, but thought i'd do the prep/polishing to save time and money with the chromer. In the end i had to get hockley chrome to strip it and then prep and chrome it. Might be worth giving them a quick call if nobody else can help you out. Might either be acid or some kind of reverse electrolysis method to sort it out. If you need to contact Hockley, ask for Lee

I think there was a head gasket stripper that shifted it? Don't wander off and leave it or your cranks will be a blob of disolved alloy though.....

no worries on that front S=dawg ... they are cromo :-)

Are you sure they're not powdercoated?
Some powdercoats can be tricky according to this old thread

thanks for the feedback lads ... I was thinking that about anno as well

they are deffo steel ... Synstrip didn't touch them tho ... I'll get some pics up

Might be more like a black electro plate finish, as I remember these had the Primo logo etched into the arms?

No chance Ed, that will need reverse chroming to remove it mate. I think it's a colour added at the chroming stage not put in the lacquer finish afterwards

spen may be right,  looks like a chemical process,     ed if you've got one, try a brass wire brush in a drill on the pedal boss in the pic, where it's damaged ,if it brings the black off , then i can get em shiny for ya ,by cutting em back with polish,    those directors Lman had off me had only been prepped ready to shine up ,  first cut, provided the chemical finish is on the surface of the chrome then they will polish up ,   tbh it looks surface applied , on top of a basic chrome, or possibly nickle plate

its deffo a finish over the chrome as they have worn in 3 layers ... the black has worn to show the chrome .. then the chrome has worn to show the bare metal.

They must have been ridden well to wear through the black finish, then chrome ... down to bare metal.

I kind of like that so I might just leave 'em :-)
