Drum brakes on old school 20"-26" bikes
« on: December 16, 2016, 11:05 AM »
If you've got any old school bmx through to 26" cruiser fitted with drum brakes I'd appreciate you posting some pics up please.

I'm thinking of changing my 26" to this braking system as in my eyes it cleans up the lines of the bike.

I have just run rear coaster brakes before now to make the bike less cluttered but I don't want to go down that way this time around.

My mate had drum brakes on a old 82 puch I think it was , fitted with yellow shite mags which wobbled and flex like jelly..
It gave that clean look but they were absolutely shocking rain or shine..
I not saying that all drum brakes are bad but..
Imaging the scene.. I was just 13 wearing a just a pair of shorts going flat out down the street on his borrowed bike.
Just slightly touched the front brake and over the bars like superman  explosion

Sturmey archer I'd be using and they all get good reviews

There was a set on here with SA drums on a set of Zeds.
They looked great and saved wearing out the decals .
