I've given up being surprised by some of the prices I see on egay, though I've also noticed some crazy prices being asked for things over on the Museum recently. :idiot2:

To be fair though this is all Jeff Haney's stash & he puts them on quite low to let the buyers decide the outcome.
I've had loads of parts off him throughout  the years & some good deals too.He gets all the top collectors & builders watching his auctions so no surprise they fetch high amounts considering his collection & the more sought after parts he puts up.Sometimes you get lucky & get a bargain though.

Ooops I meant Jeff not Rich! Corrected now.

Yes i think there was a feature on him in classic bmx magazine. He's Jeff Haney - one of the biggest bmx collectors out there along with Juan Mattos (bmx addicts on ebay/bmx museum) (who i think has sold a load of his stuff now). Yes, i suppose the prices could be seen as crazy, but if you've got a few grand in a build and want to finish it off in style, then they are worth it to some people. Would i pay that much for a set of tyres? It's hard to say - it would depend on the circumstances.

Out of interest? what does Mr Haney do for a living? even to buy that much stuff bitd would have cost a fortune even if the parts were sensible priced then? I saw his collection on you tube I think some awesome stuff, just interested to know what he did or does  ;)

He bought most of his stuff by the container full for next to nothing, late 90's, think a lot of it came from the uk.

By all accounts he has a ranch with a load of trees, cuts a few down, sells them, this is how he makes money, think its family owned, could be wrong, someone will know the proper story i'm sure.

I meant no criticism of anyone or anything and I am relieved that no one on here has leapt up to condemn such sales. The market usually finds its level although the playing field is not always level for all. If I were a rich man I would want the juiciest apples and the sweetest pears. It does, however, make me feel a lot better about my Hot Heart with its SR parts and the way it looks for relatively little in comparison.
Wanted: Shimano Aero frame
Wanted: Tange Axeblade frame

I'm not bothered what someone else pays for something.

The only thing that gets my goat up in general is shill bidding ( and I'm not saying these are )

I really wanted that SE Jersey he was selling ... I bid hard as it was NOS and a size large but with auctions ending at 3.00 am our time I was always going to be outbid at the last second ...?       :'(

Not too gutted though .. It's not the same as missing out on a part you really need for a build ..
