Never owned a set personally, but from NOS ones I've seen for sale over the years they were all bare alloy very lightly polished.

Google 'NOS Silver Shimano DX pedals' and plenty of images come up showing them like that too.

Yeah I missed out on a set on eBay last week. The pics looked like you could clearly see cast marks but they were really shiny like they were either painted with something or chemically brightened to achieve the shine whilst leaving the marks.
I have some nos red ones & the cast is easy to see.

I thought they were bare alloy, from what I've read all the other colours were painted
If the pins are steel then they's surely have to anodise them before fitting if that's the case?

Anodised before the pins are fitted, the pins would be zinc plated, so you wouldn't see any real difference in colour.

Someone must have a nos pair to show us?

* if by 'interesting' you mean a load of people arguing the toss over paint vs powder vs ano with no concrete verdict at the end :teef:

The black set I had tried the oven pride method would not touch it..
Had to use paint remover which worked a treat.. fistblump

Does this mean if I want to strip my gold SXs then I need paint stripper rather than OvenPride?
