Tuf Neck chainring Surprise? have a read of this?

A while back I asked the question about stripping a white Tuf neck cross type chainring? well I finally managed to strip it  it was nos in the packet when bought and the powder coat white was obviously from the factory as it had never been out the packet but had a lil surprise when I did strip it as underneath it was in fact a red anodised chainring in mint condition when completely stripped!  anybody else found this out? I'd be interested to know?

Me too.
I got a orange and a purple from US with intention to strip.
My guess is when Freestyle took off in mid 80s surplus stock got repainted.

My Tufnecks, blue ano under pink powder and a red ano under orange powder.

I mind a mates Tuf stem years ago, him stripping off the paint for the ano finish.
