Custom new school forklifter
« on: October 29, 2016, 09:58 PM »
Our kid is back home in a few weeks and we are working on a little Christmas project for my wethepeople cream. Plan is to bring the classic redline forklifter stem back for a newschool ride.

It's going to be as near as possible to the original.  :daumenhoch:

It's early days design wise but I'm trying to decide whether it should have an internal fork clamp like an oddy V3 to keep the classic lines or to go with a much easier option of a standard slot and 2 bolt clamp configuration.

What do we reckon
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

sounds great, and with your skills I'll be keeping an eye open for updates on this one.

Just my humble opinion but I'd love to see it with the internal clamping, much more in keeping with the original and cleaner lines, but heck more of a challenge, and probably a lot more work  :(

I would try for an internal wedge. But thinking about the angle of a forklifter the wedge would have the be angled to slide down through the stem, and that sounds like a machining angle nightmare.

Already half way through a custom stem with your name on it  ::)
May be a while too, my workshop is still running on a skeleton crew after the flood  :(

Internal wedge would be rad! Problem with them is it's got to be 100% or they slip a lot or crush the bars & steerer tube, would love to see you pull it off though  :daumenhoch:
