Skyway TA XL 1984

A few of you know I have been sitting on this build for quite some time. Well we finally have movement
I got the frame about 5 year ago now. It was a chrome TA XL i use the term chrome loosely here. I wanted a chrome one for a while but they seem to be pretty rare so when this came up i took a chance.
The chrome was just too far gone for decent survivor so i had it stripped. I have listened to guys go on about chromers they have used over the years and up until now been very apprehensive over getting a good job done with the frame been in such a state.
Anyway it came back this week and it turned out well so the build begins.
Most of the parts were sourced years ago for this so it shouldn't take too long.
Here are some progress pics of the frame from then to now.
Crusty BB
When it 1st came back from chrome strip. This one scared the crap out of me
But opening the box up to find this on Wednesday made the wait worth while.
And finally in all it's glory ready for the build ahead.
The forks were sourced seperatley as the owner of the frame split and I didn't win the forks. The next set went by and by the time the next set came up I wasn't taking any chances. The nos forks with original decals were on their way.
A big thanks to JJ Baldbmxer for the nos original downtube decal too. I was very greatful for the nice little og touch.

Are you local to them or have to post it.
I get nervous when posting to places like this and prefer to drop things off if I can

No they are in Wembley and I'm in Leeds. I packed it well and so did they. I also made sure it was covered with £500 worth of insurance there and back.

That's turned out amazing Glynn. I know that feeling-waiting, wondering and hoping that the frame will survive the strip/polish/re-chrome process, and that the finish will be good. The T/A, and especially the xl is my favourite old school frameset

I'll have to see as the build progresses, two of my top handful of favourite TA's have white seats. It's going to be one of these though.

Shaping up nicely. I've recently got an XL but I had to have white as that's what I remember as a kid. They're the most comfortable sized old school I've ridden, although I have a shotgun ll on mine and they aren't all that comfy so gel cover is installed.

Thanks Jaymz, yeah I like yours. It's the same tt as my pro racer but I'm imagining the geometry will feel a lot better.

This is going to be epic! The rechrome is stunning...better than the one on my XL
but it's still hanging on the wall in my house and I love it
