Mirage "New" Old School BMX Parts
« on: September 24, 2016, 06:36 PM »
Does anyone know anything about the company Mirage? They have started to produce "New" Old School BMX parts. Alans BMX stock them. Are they any good?  :-\

Thanks in advance.  :daumenhoch:

Good stuff then, and now, from what I've seen.

The Mirage crossbar bar design has only been possible due one of our very own  :radbmxsmilie: members lending them one of the only remaining sets of OG bars to measure up to.

Have to say, was looking to seeing what Alan would come up with but what I saw at MK looked a bit like generic parts with a mirage badge on. I guess that's the current bmx climate for you?  :-\

Those stems have been taking a pounding on FB ....
I think because they look like those £5 copy Suntours with Mirage etched on them..

I'm a big fan of Mr Woods personally (being Wigan based ) and those bars and cranks look great ..

Would have to see/ use the stems to make a judgement whether they were more Landar or more Suntour in nature?

I have to say that's the the old school scene is a more thriving one than the new school at the moment and hence companies/businesses are cashing in ( Haro, GT, Mirage etc )

Popularity isn't always a good thing ?  ::)

Those stems are a case in point. That white line either side of the center strip gives them away as cheapo copies. These were going on the bay a while back for less then a fiver.
I think a tuf neck style stem would have been much more appropriate for the redline / bullseye quality look I imagine he is tryin to achieve

I've not seen the stems, so couldn't possibly comment, but here's some of their other items I've taken from their Instagram page.

It's a shame Dan as some of the stuff looks half decent. Think the stems and seatclamps especially let the side down

Time will tell Clint. As a regular buyer of repop bits and a once frequent visitor to Alan's site, I know if parts are wanted by the masses, or not. For example, Profile stems, the Pro/Tuf Neck style sold out quite quickly, but the other flatter quill type didn't.

With Mirage parts, I'm sure the bars and power discs will do well (if they release them), but not sure about the headsets or chain rings, if I was buying either of those as a repop, I'd find myself straying towards Tange and Sugino parts.
