I did use the trainline.com for a few years, but last year, just randomly checked ticket prices on Virgintrains and got a return for £14, didn't even get the return as I got a lift off Rugger. You just need to be flexible on what time of day you travel, to keep the cost as low as poss. You going down Friday?
