1985 GT Pro Performer

Here's my current project.
I can't trace it back to the original owner but according to the previous owner who had it a number of years it's all survivor.
The original decals were removed many moons ago, I added new ones courtesy of Del.

I'm in 2 minds what to do with it really, mild restoration or leave it as it is?

Nice frame set but it's not a true survivor. The seat clamp is mid school and the seat is an 87+

I'm certainly no expert on specific components but the seat was top of the list for changing.
I ride it to work occasionally, so the tyres will have to be change also, they look a bit frail

Looks Nice a  few changes over the years are evident but looks cool to me.  Nice ride

Nice bike Martin! A good cleaning and removing the light rusty areas won't do any harm.  Take your time to decide what parts you may want to change. Ideas will come over time. Especially if you look around in this forum, you will find plenty of inspiring builds and restos. There are some really great "how too's" in the resto section here too. Not forgetting all the nice people on here who are experts on GT and everything else you can imagine.    Have fun!

Yes it was probably the same one.
I have been on the look out for the past year or so.
I was expecting it to fetch a lot more tbh, probably because it was collection only.
It wasn't a million miles away so I thought I'd have a go, was quite surprised to win.

Nice bike...Some nice parts too....I would just take it apart, clean and lube..new tyres and tubes and maybe a couple of other bits like seatclamp ...that's about it. It has a TRUE 80's look about it and is SOOO typical of bikes we all rode in the 80's with parts being upgraded as time and innovations moved so quickly back then. makes a nice change from strict era correct builds. I love the fact it has ACS locking levers and a gyro...

Thanks, that's pretty much the plan for it at the moment.
The brakes need attention especially.
