bmx clobber ??
« on: June 27, 2016, 06:02 PM »
Just wondered what gear I will need for my new hobby ...

Never really gave it much thought but when you look at the probability of crashing and being 48 I thought it a good idea to get some protective gear ...

On the list so far is Helmet and looking at Arm and Knee/shin pads .. I was also looking at a body suit but have no idea what to get I want to be able to move ...

I have a load on "natural padding" if I land on my front I will bounce around like a space hopper ....

Any advice on this appreciated ...

Cheers
Paul

Stick to gear made by sixsixone (661) good gloves are a must, nothing worse than hand grazes.

Yep, some gloves would be good. I have a pair with gel pads at the palm area, and some standard ones. Just try what feels right to you.  :daumenhoch:

Stormtroopers in suspenders?

Here's me in my gear. All the gear, but certainly no idea. My helmet is made by sixsixone, and it's excellent. If you shop around, you can get last years models for bargain prices  :daumenhoch:

:) Fullface, gloves, and decent knee/elbow pads.Never worn shinpads -wear decent shoes and use good pedals and you won`t need them.

What Andy hasn't explained is that whilst he could get his slender frame into those pants (just) he couldn't move!
Old school pants are too small and too expensive to ride. A sturdy pair of shorts and knee/shin protectors is how most do it.

You're not wrong Nick. They are a tight fit. Old school size 32 inch waist. More like 29 inch in the real world

Body armour, can only speak for 661, is not restrictive in the least, buy some 2nd hand as it doesn't stay new for long. Knee/ shin pads, helmet n gloves. Body armour is unreal, went from 28 broken bones to just 2 (ribs) since  wearing  armour  :daumenhoch: And had some pretty big offs too

Aha, I know they are expensive, but I didn't know about the size issue.  :daumenhoch:
