1980 Diamondback Pro
« on: May 08, 2016, 01:07 PM »
I've always loved the old Diamondback and the classic chrome and black combination.  Well I picked this frame up for next to nothing at MK14 (thanks to Steveredvxr for pointing it out to me) and it got put in the shed for a project for another day.  Speaking to SouthernAndy he mentioned that Sawzall had a set of forks for a DB Pro so Phil kindly agreed to let them go and good old Ollie picked them up and dropped them at the chromers for me.  I wanted to go for a few bits that were slightly different to the norm so took some inspiration from Stidds with the rear brake, he gave me lots of great advice on size and so on.........then I spotted some Stronglight cranks on the bay and picked them up for a mega bargain price, however they are French threads so took me a while to pick up some old french pedals for them, can't believe the cranks are from around 78/79 as they look way beyond their years.

So It stood in my shed waiting for a set of wheels to turn up and then good old Retrodan bagged me a set of wheels off Macmania and she's now finished, really enjoyed putting it together and hope to enjoy cruising about on a few rides with it, It's nowhere near show quality but a great survivor :daumenhoch:

How it stood for about a year or so

and now finished

I like that a lot! :smitten: Would also be interested to hear how you get on with the snakebellies once you take it out for a spin, as Natsukashi is now selling them so I'm thinking of grabbing a pair! :daumenhoch:

Cheers mate, like I say it took some time to find a Stronglight chainring with the correct number of teeth which would fit.
