Updated with Redneck stem. Not sure whether to leave this stem on or go back to the VG one. I like both to be honest! The redneck gives a lower bar height, noticeably different, so I popped a spacer in.

Yep, it was the style of the time, lower your seat post and point it up. More space to move the bike mid-air but still comfy when kicking back. It feels fine to sit on.
