Repops/NRPs- the good the bad and the ugly!

Okay so love 'em (Dan) or loathe 'em (Steve69) "Repop Muck" or the New Reproduction Part is here to stay.

The longer I've been in the scene personally the less I've come to like them on my own builds but that's just because I'm an anal so and so and want the proper parts I couldn't have bitd.

They are however a necessary evil for many of us in an increasingly shrinking marketplace where prices have gone absolutely mental ( £300+ for shotgun seats and £800+ for a TA )

Here are 3 re-issues that I thought were  good because of the following criteria..

They were good copies of the originals.
They were made with good materials.
They were all reasonably priced.

The Porkchop Viscount Dominator

The Haro Series 1B Plate

The A'me Unitron

Right then Radsters..Show no mercy here ...

Which NRPs do you rate and which ones do you hate?

I've got to agree Joff those Profiles are spot on .. Andy ( DTTDB ) has them on his TA and they look mega!
Although I wish Haro hadn't repopped everything in sight ( that another long discussion for another time! )  .. That Sport really is lush... The other frames are nice too if that what floats your boat

As long as you can tell the difference and they look good they are ok. As long as they are not that close that twats try and sell them as original.
If in doubt flat out.

If you rub your fingers along the sides of a Kashimax Aero, on someone else's bike, to see if the Aero is OG embossed, or a NRP with an Aero sticker, then there's a very high chance that your Wife or girlfriend is having sex with someone else.  ::)

You probably are only ever having sex with yourself if you partake in such joyous activities to be fair !  :D

The good:

Profile anniversary cranks. Like Ant said, I have a set on my T/A and they are great. Absolutely love them.
Hutch stuff. Ok, we all know that the Hutch brand has been bought & revived by new owners, but the pedals are lovely. The seat clamps look good, although they don't actually clamp very well.
Oakley/A'ME grips. If you can get them in the colour you need, then go for it. Nice grips.

The bad. Sorry to be a Dia Compe hater, but I bought one of the repro MX 1000's a few years ago and it's just wrong. Thin alloy, MX not moulded/Stamped into the arms, and that horrible gold tinged hardwear. Cheap and nasty. Get yourself a set of Formos brakes (if you can find them). Amazing quality copies of the originals.

I concur with the 2014 Dominguez my white one the welding and quality of finish is superb.
The tyres out of natsukashi from the og moulds are good as well.
Dc stuff is nasty, I've got 1000s and some tech lVs and they look like sprayed play dough.

As you know, I love repop stuff, suits my budget and prevents the 'waiting for that part' scenario/trap, that I've seen so many people torture themselves with.

There's not many repop parts that I wouldn't use, but the DC MX1000's are a definite  "nono", I had them on my Haro, and they looked awful, and were impossible to set up.

I stuck one of the repop MX1000 on the front of my ripper when I went on a charity ride last year cos it was cheap and thought i'd be better off with two brakes.  other than the blue being the wrong shade it actually works really well.  very snappy and stops really well.
