hello new here a little help from those in the know

HI all, A deeply frustrated ex BMX'r nearing 40 here - i get my kicks from Enduro and DH mountain biking now but have always deeply regretted selling my own childhood Mk 1 Tuff Burner 10 years ago when clearing my mums house.

Time's past and i look envyingly and surprised at the prices these things reach nowadays and have never dipped my toe back in .. until now - yesterday i was doing a bit of work at a customers house (Elderly lady) and there was a old skool Peugeot stuck in the corner of her garage covered in dust. I did a little local racing on peugeot many moons ago so it piqued my interest and i dusted it off. When the customer came and gave me a cup of tea we started chatting and apparently it was her sons bike and if i liked it i was free to take it he had emigrated years ago.

Im not one to look a gift horse in the mouth but im sure there is some value to these so i said i will try to find out what its worth and either offering a fair price to keep it or sell it on for her can anyone help ?

Can anyone tell me the model and rough market value (I understand its subjective and i have only one photo to show you .

Thanks for your helpful reply i have tried eBay already and unfortunately there was only one listing for a drastically different bike so it gave me no clue - additional web searches that led me here didn't come up with a guide price either -

I think what he means is that to find the true market value of something, put it on ebay with no reserve and see what happens 


something is only ever worth what someone is willing to pay for it, someone might really want one of those as it was their bike as a kid and give you £200 others might look at it as a POS (Pile Of Shyte) and only want to give you £40

What Rob (pickle) said. It's value depends on what someone is prepared to pay. Raleigh burners aren't the best bmx's out there, but they were popular and therefore lots of people feel a connection with them. Other brands such as Peugeot or Falcon Pro weren't as popular, so their appeal isn't as widespread. For example, i bought a complete burner last year for £175. The year before i bought a complete Falcon Pro for £115, and a few years ago bought a Peugeot Black Lion bmx for £31 (it was a wreck though). All were auctions on ebay. Like i say, it depends who is looking for one at the time, and how badly they want it. It only needs 2 people who are after the same thing for the price to rocket. I'd say about £100-£150 is about right as a rough estimate
