I swapped my repop aerospeeds for a set of gen 2 bullseyes. Stu was going to give me some cash too, but I wouldn't take it as he did an amazing job of getting a profile BB machined up to fit a Bullseye spindle. He also sorted me out with some spacers and gave tips on installation. Discostu - you're a diamond geezer.

I've just bought a set of tatty gen 2 bullseye cranks on ebay for £370, but they need a complete overhaul and a BB. I'd say that swapping yours in the condition they are in (very nice) with a set of repop aerospeeds is a fair trade. Not for original aerospeeds though, as they are circa £1000 depending on condition.

One more thing - the cranks I've just bought also came with a new double ended retaining bolt that fits into each end of the crank spindle (like yours). Did they have anything like this originally, or is it just a modern aftermarket addition?
I'm having the non drive side of my hollow spindle filled in, welded secure, and then having it tapped so I can fit a screw in retaining bolt - just like the phase 2 gen 2 spindles

I don't think they did Andy, certainly not on the gen 1's. I personally don't like the look of it fitted.

Same here Terry. The drive side should always be hollow in my opinion. I've just bought a set of phase 1 gen 2's with the hollow spindle. Terrible idea/design. I've taken mine to my local welder who is going to fill in the Non drive side end of the spindle and get it threaded to fit a 1/4 inch bolt so i can fit an end cap

Yep, although today's ones have less chance of breaking for two primary reasons; 1. they don't get ridden 2. if they do get ridden they have an axle/bolt setup that won't fail as easily.  Of course that's ignoring all the ones that split open on the welded seems or rusted from the inside out  .

That said, Bullseye made a significant comeback a few years ago and in the last few years their cranks have suddenly become as popular as Profiles on builds when they were as hard to find as pinchless Flights to me that's odd.  There is a good thread on Vintage about their comeback, personally I am doubtful all these cranks that are surfacing are old stock as they might seem, pretty much like the hubs.
