I'd be tempted to try a citric or oxalic acid bath before even contemplating a rechrome, shouldn't hurt the decals and sometimes the rust isn't as bad as you think. A rechrome is always fooking expensive and it's only original onceEither way I'd bin the seat post, original or not

Nice find!!!Our well known padset man has the template for these too if you need pads. A re-chrome would cost in the region of 200-250 quid but that wouldn't necessarily add the same value to the f&f... if that's what you mean.
i had one of these, which i painted brown with a brush. it had yellow tuffs and we used it for a loch jumping bike.
