BMX insurance at home
« on: February 17, 2016, 05:19 PM »
My house insurance was due this week and was on the phone to renew.
The missus said to ask if they could add my collection to the policy.
I gave them the info and approx cost of my collection and at first I was a bit pi$$ off as they said because you have disclosed this you are at a higher risk now and your policy might increase even if you don't want the extra cover.. :wtf:
Anyway..
Because of the amount of bikes and the high value he asked me to email the details of the collection with the approx costs as they will pass this to there under-righters.
A few days passed no calls or emails.
I just got off the phoned to chase this up and they have covered me.. :daumenhoch:
Was a extra £300 on my renewal of £240..
Do you think I had a good deal or sound right.. :chin:

I've just done mine . I put them down as specific items @2k each ( I wish) , then bumped up the overall cover. They put it upto a 'plus' policy , which cost £200 more , but I'm now covered way and above and also away from home and accidental😉

With my policy they wanted a run down of everything .
Personally for the list I gave them it wasn't a bad price..

you all need to check that the policy offered is not new for old, because you get offered a new BMX not the value of your collection
the only way to insure collectors items is to have them listed as such and a letter saying that they will pay value not replacement

pretty hard to do and if any of you have them nicked god forbid you will not be covered even though they have taken your money
most household policys are not geared for this type of thing and a specialist insurer is the way to go
