the bike......a tv prog by phil redmond..................

anyone remember that shite prog on tv called 'the bike' ? it was made by phil redmond (brookside, grange hill, hollyoaks, etc) about some little kid who stole a bmx and then teamed up with a girl and both rode their arses off (on bikes, not each other-it was kids tv) until the kids consience got the better off him and he returned the bike. some good riding from carlo (as the thief kid double) and jason davies(as the girl double-this was before the long ponytail he sported for years). i've got it on vhs and may put up either just the riding ,or if people want it the whole 25 min programme. start the debate on this and see what the end result is. but be warned it is shite and was a blatant 25 min advert for skyway.

I recognised this as Birmingham straight away but had to watch it through to confirm it. With not much dialogue (about 4 words in the whole thing!!) it wasn't easy but the mom sure sounded brummie. The posh bits are filmed in Edgbaston the rough-arse estate could be Smethwick Nr Bearwood.

anyway bit sad but here goes

6:38   The bike shop is Bearwood cycles
10:09 Under Spaghetti Jct
9:08   The shop where he nicked the bike is 16 Templefield Square, Birmingham B15 2LJ

Well that was certainly shit, but as a kid I would have probably thought it was ok

I enjoyed the random 'you bet' footage after, with Carlo stopping for little drink breaks to heighten the suspense  :teef:

I saw this on youtube the other week. It is bad but kind of interesting too.  I find any old box stuff interesting no matter how bad!

I've watched this twice, and would again, it's BMX, so it's all good.

just watched it, never saw it first time, Jesus, its like watching The Jam videos, you forget how awful it was in the 80's in England.
When I was born, the world was a far simpler place.
It was all just cops and robbers.
And BMX.
