Ok so there's not much love for these but I remember clearly when those new fangled Dyno's started appearing in BMXplus back in the mid-eighties - and I loved them. They were fresh, featured funky graphics and were ridden by the likes of Josh White...and the forks and shirts were wicked too.
I've been after a curve bladed Dyno for years - always just escaping my grasp. But I finally nabbed one a few weeks ago, I think from a fellow radster off the bay of plenty.
This is what it looks like close up.
The plan is just to build a nice survivor as when it arrived I just figured I was tired of doing completely restored builds. So today I pulled it out of the box in the loft and started to rummage through the boxes of bits we all accumulate to see what's lurking...
The one thing I knew I didn't have was a RX2 seat clamp so I ordered one of those before I decided on a survivor project.
First things first and I found the ideal black headset that I pulled from a frame a good few years ago & kept for some reason. I think it came on my Bravo from stateside, anyway - it's complete with white overspray and totally mangy bearings. So I turfed those and packed some fresh grease inside some new races, then went about fitting the fork race and pressed in the cups with the wotsamecallit.
Job done, forks fitted and I'm starting to "feel" this build - I think a survivor build was deffo the way to go...
On went the Odyssey clamp, pity it's nos but you can't win them all, then in went the old scratched up D stamped Drainpipe that's obviously seen some radness in its time. Some equally battle scarred black Pretzels would be a perfect match.
Overall I'm actually liking the nutural wear 'n tear going on - the patina is telling a story and I love the fact that I don't care if it gets more scratches...
