May be a stupid question...
« on: December 21, 2015, 07:29 PM »
Just need to know,(been out of the game for nearly 20yrs!) but is there any way to fit an 1 1/8" set of forks to a 1" frame? Back in my day, towards the end of my riding days, bikes were starting to swap from 1" to 1 1/8", I had a dirt bike with ditchforks that was 1",then I bought a sabbath that I'm sure was 1 1/8", and from memory,I think I made some shims at college to use the ditchforks on the sabbath. Now though,I'm building another 1" dirt bike,I have pitchforks, but can't find a redneck 1" quill for love nor money,I also have some 1 1/8" ditchforks complete with redneck, can I make this fork/stem fit my older dirt bike? Thanks.

There was a guy on the BMXmuseum.com who made some awesome headsets so you could run 1 1/8 forks in 1" headtubes.

If you are not a member on there, I recommend being so and putting the question in the catchall, techh and resto section.

This may be of some use to you too  :daumenhoch:

Ed209 did this on a Bashguard sport a while back, seem to remember it being a mix of cups and races from both sized headsets and loose bearings, not caged.
