« on: November 16, 2015, 03:29 PM »
Hi guys

I know it's been asked a thousand times but does anyone in the uk do a good smoked chrome finish that was on the pro class???

Steve it can be done as a lacquer applied over the chrome but a decent fart  next to it can often be enough to make it come off... I had a few done by the lad on Burner world up in Darlington who's name escapes me but I think was Mark. The company was Impressive Finishes I think?

Look on my page on me & my bikes and you will see them both. There was a guy on here who sent his to Australia to get the proper chemical process done but my god it was expensive. Looked out of this world though, so you get what you pay for  I suppose  :-\

Yeah thanks mate..... I have a survivor and it's awesome but did a citric bath to clean rust off and it seems to have stripped some off the forks but not touched the main frame  :-[ it's not to bad just annoying

Yes citric acid will remove some zinc And nickel plating .  I'm sure there are other company's that do it in the UK aswell as the one above

Wish I had known about citric before dipping it... Strange it just effected the forks not the frame???  :'(

Yes I don't know why. I thinks it's a passivate that goes over the chrome.  I know people who leave new zinc plated bolts in cola or vinegar etc to strip the plating so they can be redone either black or olive green
