S&M Holmes
« on: October 28, 2015, 04:58 PM »
I've just picked this up purely because it seemed like a good price.  I'm not even sure I want it but what do you guys reckon?  I think it's a 2000 Holmes with profile crank and chainring.  The one arm is pretty pitted as you can see.  Is there anything I can do to tidy that up without going to the expense of rechroming??  The rest of the parts are Primo, bars, stem, clamp and seat.  The seat has big holes in but the other bits aren't too bad.  I'm torn between getting it re-powdered and decal'd up or just selling it on.  Do you think it's worth re-powdering??

was looking at this too,    the rusty crank arm will polish up fine , but where the chrome is gone you will have dark spots  :daumenhoch:

Can't go wrong with a Holmes, of any type. I don't like to see them too heavy-duty though.

What's Marvin's seat guts then??   ???

Had a little dabble this morning taking it apart.  Managed, the stem and handle bars so far.  Things are stuck real good so I've added liberal amounts of WD40 to soak in.  I'm gonna wait until it's stopped raining so I can take it outside and give it a good introduction to Mr Hammer.  The Mrs isn't too pleased with me mashing it around the wood floor  ;D

Right, figured out what Marvin's guts are  ;)

The guy said all parts other than the crank were Primo.  This stem looks like a Primo Casket but it's unstamped so were the caskets stamped or was it a printed decal?

Also the bars.....if Primo moustache bars perhaps??

I'm pretty sure the casket logos were etched on & not engraved.

I was bidding on this and lost out to poor reception! You had a little result there by the looks of it.
