Got a set of supra E wheels, laced to some generic 48 hubs. they've been stood in a damp basement for ten years and the crome is peeling everywhere, which is a shame as otherwise they are in good condition.
I want them for a rider, so im considering:
A. leaving them like that, but it will be the weakest visual aspect of the bike as everything else is coming up nicely
B. powdercoat the rims, which will give me chance to lace up a set of hubs that are a bit better than the bland ones that are in.
so........theres no point in taking the second option if the powder is gonna wear off after 5 mins. My only experience of powder on rims is on my 84 quad...they were araya aeros in gold powder and the powder was pretty thin as it was more of a show pony. With the dust from MK and a bit of dew, it made a great abrasive paste to wear off a clean line right round both sides of the rim.anyone had any success with a good thick powder, more like the kind they enamel stoves with?
