Puch Trak Pro information required.
« on: October 22, 2015, 11:12 PM »
Guys. I am looking to get in your memory banks and see if I can get information in regards to the limited edition, black with gold parts, Thruster made Puch Trak Pro completes.

The information that I have managed to find so far is that when Puch released the Trak Pro back in late 1980, early 1981, they had special edition completes built consisting of a Black Frame and Fork and gold parts. These matched the chrome and blue versions that were being sold as completes, but they only had one in each of their own high street shops. They had plates riveted to the bottom of the BB which would be engraved with a serial and your name if you were lucky enough to purchase one.

Does anybody on here remember these bikes, or have any information that would help  ???

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated, thank you  :daumenhoch:

This, I believe, is one of them. The fork has long gone, but the frame has the original black finish, original decals, and the limited edition plate riveted to the bottom of the BB   :)

Can't help you with the limited edition ones Terry but I very nearly bought one of the chrome ones last year and now regret not doing so, so if that black one's for sale then given its rarity I'd snap it up sharpish! Here's a old advert to encourage you! :daumenhoch:

Love these frames... didn't they come with Thruster forks originally. ???

They did bro. The chances of me finding an original finish black Thruster Fork with genuine Puch decals on though, will be like seeing John Puch with a full head of golden hair. It's not going to happen  ;D

Likewise, just trying to get someone to part with a Thruster Fork will be nigh on impossible. Due to this, I have opted for a chrome undrilled Pro Racer Fork with genuine decals fitted. They are scratched up  a bit, but the bike is a full survivor build  :daumenhoch:

Yup. I had one and have one now. Here. By far the prettiest forks for this frame are the standard Tange TRX, (not ARX).

I agree a lovely rare and superb bike. The black and gold would be a show winner. How about a shimano dx crank in gold ooooohhh!

I am building it as a survivor using the parts that came with it from factory if I can. Cranks will be Dura Ace, although silver, as I doubt I could ever find a gold set  :crazy2:

I will also be using a chrome first gen Hutch Pro Racer fork as the drops are stronger than Thruster forks  :daumenhoch:

The floval tubing is awesome on them, and I can't believe how light they are. I am looking forward to building it and giving it a go  :daumenhoch:

Hi Guys

I agree with all the comments. I have a second chrome Trak Pro coming from the states so keep in touch with me if you are very interested, I will def let one go to someone who really really wants one. They are more rare than valuable but the one my mate

Absolutely Tange TRX all the way. I found a Nos Pair so very happy. I have never had the thruster forks.

Great bike, well made and gorgeous!

I’ve got an 81 as I was told here in the states I’ve somewhat put together. Although I have no rivited badge on the crank case it is etched. One thing I’m looking for are decals, more so for the head of the bike. Any leads? The pics attached are as it sits, the etching on the crank case, the frame and how it was when I brought it home. Thanks for any help!
