HARO BRIAN BLYTHER RETRO 2015 FST ( pic heavy)
« on: October 06, 2015, 05:51 PM »
Hello Radsters

just finished building my new school Blyther FST  :D not too long ago, thought i'd share it with you , if you aint already seen it on my facebook .

Managed to score one of the framesets from Planet BMX in Florida . (great deal , DESPITE CUSTOMS CHARGES  )

noticed  that it came with BB bearings but no bottom fork race  :

so that came off the Triple Zero too , but could i get it on the FST Forks?? could i fook ..... LBS wouldnt touch it with a bargepole after i let it slip the forks were fresh from America and probably the only one in the UK at that time ...chicken shit. So i had to very very carefully and painstakingly  file the steerer down so i could slide the crown race down then tap it home without damaging that beautiful 1985 Flouro Red paint .

Bits came from my 2012 Chrome 000  and my 500.3 to get it rollin , after all the faffing with the forks it came together pretty quickly  :coolsmiley:

SO stoked on how it came together . it looks and rides superb .

Swapped the seat and  changed post  for a longer , shiny Eclat laidback pivotal  and a chrome Gusset Slink halflink chain

And she is done ! HOPE YOU LIKE IT

Cheers

Dave

those forks had a built in bearing race so you didn't need to file them.

Really Egg? just my luck to have done all that work when i didnt need to ???  :loser: "bump"

Can't be sure from the pictures i have of the forks before and after filing .....i looked on the Haro site and from what i can see the FST forks are repainted "78" forks  , the Lineage forks have a built in race but the 78 doesn't.

i will whip the forks out and check tomorrow morning .

those forks are the same as lineage forks, they get thicker at the bottom so the bearings just sit on there and you don't need to use the race.no real harm done i guess but it would have saved you the work ;)
