How shiny should 7x shiny sides be?
« on: September 28, 2015, 05:11 PM »
Did or does anyone know/remember or have a Nos set ... Trying to research to get mine looking spot on .. Did some come really blinged up or were they more of a dull/brushed finish?
Cheers Ant

Here's some images but it's inconclusive from these...

Don't think they were mirror polished finish Ant. I'm pretty sure they were plain (not brushed) aluminium.  :daumenhoch:
I could be wrong though.  :-\

Agreed. I have an orphan :( NOS Gold Araya 7x shiny side. It's at my parents - so I can't show you a pic just now, but defo not mirror finish. As CustardLips said - plain aluminium. Certainly on the wheel I've got.

They already are Dan  :D They look awesome but i did say to Ant that maybe they are too blingy and they possibly need toning down a notch or two  ;)

I checked my NOS Black 7X shinesides tonight Ant and they aren't very shiny , then again they have had 30 years to dull down   :D ;D

Seriously Nick or are you being facetious now ?

I always assumed they were more dull... Even though I like a bit of bling myself :P

Honestly Ant, I got these NOS and in the wrapper. If somebody had taken them out they made a good jovb putting them back. They are Ukais by the way. I have had NOS 7x that were duller too.

Thanks Nick .. Really interesting stuff! You'd think if Ukai's came like that then surely some 7x's came like that?

Joff made a good point to me the other day .... Would araya really go to all the extra bother of polishing up all their shiny sides ?

Just a thought ?

Anyone out there got mirror finish NOS 7x s out there then ?

If there going on a show build that you not riding granted it will look awesome in bling but bitd would it not of made sense for them to be raw alloy finish for better stopping? I know ambrosia rims had some type of lines on them to aid braking/stopping power  ??? just a thought

Mine a dull sheen from 83-84. Imagine stainless steel de-lorean.
