Bit of tyre advice needed.
« on: September 08, 2015, 08:44 PM »
Been thinking about a project for a couple of years but done nothing about it  :-[ until now  :D

I'm going to need some low rolling resistance tyres, knobbly joblies are way too lumpy for what I need. Ideally they need to be pre 86. Any decent suggestions ?

Also some super smooth rolling hubs,  ceramic bearings would be sweet but not sure which ones.

You want something a little different Ash? What about something like a laser Trac tyre?
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

No they weren't raleigh, Can't remember the make but they were 20 x 1.75 , I'm sure I bought them from whitehawks in 84, they were fitted to my Araya 7x with Shimano hubs that Mick built for me.

I've got a pair of Kenda whitewalls if you want them Ash.
Personally I rode with Michelin whitewalls bitd, the tread was much nicer and more like the Mitsuboshi stadium's

LMK if you want them  ;)
If there's air in the tyres... it's a rider

:daumenhoch: cool. If you plan to actually run it I would be more concerned with braking than super special hubs  ;)

Might also be worth avoiding era correctness in favour of safety at speed if you're gonna have a go

I'll definitely be riding it or at least that's the desired plan, not I somehow think I won't be going all that fast  :LolLolLolLol:
Brake wise front and rear was a standard requirement for all GPV bikes, I'll be going for something a little more modern for the actual rides and then switch it back for era correct if I take it to a show.
