SS crank resto
« on: November 21, 2015, 03:11 PM »
Picked up some Profile SS cranks a few weeks back and am in the process of restoring them.
Arms have been done.
Started with this

Not bad condition, But one of the axle bosses had some dings. Gave the area a blast in a sand blaster.
And got a bodyshop that we use at work to put a few blobs of weld on the offending area.

After a bit of time on the grind wheel, dremel, file and them some wet/dry on a flat surface.
Ended up like this

Gave both arms a blast, I protected the splines. :)

Dropped them off to SBD for some fresh gloss black. Picked them up earlier today.
Will post pics soon

I do have another set that came with a 22mm ti axle as well as the 7/8 axle. They were chrome and I got SBD to do them black. Think I might have to give them a blast and get SBD to do them red.
I'm still working on the BB cups. Have you got any pics of the finish and shape of your cups Ben?

They're a very standard-looking cup with obviously a slightly larger internal diameter
Will photo it for you later, at work till 6am gaz.
