Harrow Concrete Skatepark
« on: September 02, 2006, 12:50 PM »
I was speaking to a Harrow local at Southsea who was raving on about Harrow

Its another original 70's park, similar to ROM and Southsea

http://www.harrowskatepark.co.uk/mainpage.htm

check the map page for a pic, looks pretty cool, might be worth a sesh :)

anyone got any views on it?

Used to be awesome to skate and ride but the council filled in peanut bowl and knocked down the four feet of vert on the performance bpwl and then filled that in too  :'(

Still, it's a good park the classic pool is tight for bikes and so is the halfpipe but the runouts (known as the b0ll0x for obvious reasons) are good and the halpipe is excellent for jumping out of at the ends and so is the snake run.  Definitely worth checking out their website....http://www.harrowskatepark.co.uk/mainpage.htm

I reckon a sesh there would be a good day out  :daumenhoch:

Built by the same company that built Rom and Gillingham.  James Hitchcocks local park and the scene of many good sessions.  Worth a visit for sure  :)

Last I heard the peanut was still filled and has a car or two buried in it, the council refused to let the performance bowl be dug out as it was way too scary bitd, but without the 4ft of vert it might not have been as scary  :LolLolLolLol:

Still, its worth a trip over there as I reckon it will still be great fun  :daumenhoch:

Looks like a MooseGoose but I could be wrong  :LolLolLolLol:

The guy is jumping the hip on the moguls, the snake run is behind where the kids are on there bikes, another good hip is the one on the runouts or b0lloxs.

We used to jump from the run outs into the park next to it, clearing the footpath in the process - great fun  :LolLolLolLol:

I tried several times to clear the fence at the bottom of the run outs and nearly made a few times when the fence was still complete, then to make it easier "someone" pulled it down about 2 feet  :LolLolLolLol:  Then it came down completely like in the pics  :LolLolLolLol:

me and my mates ued to get up at 5am to get to harrow before it got busy...  the four bowls are numbered 1 to 4 and poeple would shout what they were doing before they dropped in.. 2 to 3 through the gate, bowls working or bolox poppin out ;D ;D  it seems ridiculous now but thats what eveyone did....   the half pipe is gnarly its got no flat bottom...   i smashed my ankle there when i was about fifteen doin a 360 out of bowl 4, had to get a couple screws in it to fix me, ah those were the days ;D >:( ;D

Sorry, realise this is an ancient thread but wanted to comment on it as it brought back memories.

The Popping in/Popping out thing made me laugh that was so true. I also remember the fence being tried cleared once then ripped down although wasn't there when it was ripped down. When I used to go the Pool and Performance bowl were filled in although I remember one wet day we brought spades down and tried to dig it out oh the ignorance of youth. The story I was told was that the council filled them in as they were too dangerous and they had smashed up the concrete before filling them in.

Matt Bains did absolutely rip in the half pipe there but there was also a black guy called Rodney who I thought was just as good and super super smooth in the pipe. Pete Dossett also used be good in the pipe but to me the first two where the daddies.

Quadrophenia, Stodgy and Marty C I must of known/seen you at some point.

Bain ripped.I used to ride/skate Harrow for years.Bain was pretty good.Do you remember TC? He used to clear the fence out of the snake run..Rodney Allen was also cool, mad flat tables when "working" the bowls.I grew up with Dossett,he was pretty good on a bike before he started skating.Do you remember Yogi on his GT expert?
