Vinoah, don't suppose you have any scans of the ACE Racing adverts at all?

Ratty, don't suppose you know anyone that's still got an ACE Racing bike at all do you?  Would be great to see a pic of one, the pics I have aren't very good but I've yet to scan them.

I havent seen an Ace frame since my one in 82, I remember when I got offered the ride, I went into the shop, and out the back was about 20 frame sets just hanging up, Ace went skint shortly afterwards, I often wonder what Rich did with em all????

I did race the first 2 years of bmx in this country, I am in the rankings twice, they spelt my name wrong a couple of times so I got 2 listings...lol

I have a copy of some ace adverts, but they are at work, I will try and post them 2morrow

Me too, never made the high rankings though  :LolLolLolLol:

I remember going to the shop to get my frame just before Xmas in 81 I think, loads of frames and bikes all over the place.  Got given a pair of race pants at Earls Court in '82 (still got them!), I had one of those membership cards, but that went missing many years ago!

The frames ended up in a shop called Superbike, they were all re-stickered as something else and sold on. Superbike Dan should know more  :daumenhoch:

Not a Walthamstow boy, I'm from West London but met Andy R and Cav at Harrow where I used to skate.  Got to know them really well and often went to ride hollow ponds and the red rec as well as Eastway with them once I swtiched to BMX.  Raced a lot of the early races like Buckmore park on the wooden ramps and then the dirt track, Eastway, Ladbrook Grove and many others.

Eastway, chatham the hollow ponds.....

Been to eastway and the hollow ponds recently, the sugar bowl has been trashed over the ponds and eastway is just a wreck now

I may have to go down to chatham one bright sunny day....if we get another bright sunny day

yes bill i joined my partner when i was 17 and started to paint a load of bmx frames from superbike witch kieth the owner had bought from ace about a year or so earlier, this is mad because paul spurr my old manager on superbike race team took over the day to day running of superbike and didn't know that i had just started painting for a living, anyways painted loads of ex stock including bars forks chainrings all loud colours and one i done was a pink frame with dots all over it witch made it in one bmx mag, don't know wicth one but one member on hear must have a copy, also jason spurr son of paul any one know how he's doing, would love to speak to him again.           ps just remembered the frame we painted was pink with spots but not sure what colour, was a race frame and i'm sure it was jasons and probs between 84 to 86,  defo in some bmx mag of that era, jason was my team mate and a top young rider and i'm sure this was some kind of promo,

Yo this is odd but Mike phoned me yesterday after  20 years .I was a bit surprised to say the least. Anyway I rode with mike a few times bitd as we both tested bikes for the same magazine and also we both were well into skateboarding in a big way. Mike called yesterday to see if I wanted to go to the skatepark and catch up on all the old gossip.

I have always stayed in contact with Mikes old partner and my partner on GT Andy Preston and so I have always passed on messages to Mike over the years through Andy. So it looks like I will be bringing Pike to Bones soon . He is on a TJ Lavin dirt bike and is well into new school now. If he is anywhere near as good as he was he will be Rad as fook.

see ya all at Bones soon
