MK - The Seed.
« on: July 17, 2015, 07:21 PM »
With my 5th MK on the horizon, I got thinking about how good the previous year's had been.

I got thinking then, about how it must've been all those years ago.

So, there's a few things that myself and I'm sure a few others would love to hear.

Whose idea was it originally?
How did MK become the venue of choice?
Who turned up for the first few?
Was there a lake ride?
Did you have a S&S/raffle/racing etc?
What are the drunken tales that have now become legendary?

An insight into the history of the best weekend of the year, in general, would be ace.  :daumenhoch:

The early days of MK were such a laugh, it was literally a load of us in a field, no disco, lights etc.

But man did we get fooked.  :LolLolLolLol:

Jo (Wife) came along to the 1st one (I think) and she was saying all the way up "Are you sure I will enjoy this", well she had a whale of a time and has come along every one (except one) since.

Unfortunately she will not be coming this year and she is gutted.. although Pete may be gutted more  :LolLolLolLol:

the first weekender was at Bournemouth pre Rad about 15 of us camping round the track , we had a disco in a scout hut with one turntable and about 10 tunes lol

We tried to up the game the following year back at Bournemouth , but at a national . We were all for a party but we're told we were not allowed as people were sleeping
We moved to MK the following year as we wanted to do something  on our own and make our own noise in 06 and as the venue and the club are  so cool we have stayed every year since
The legend was born

The first MK was awesome , we had a small speaker run by a battery 2 gazebos and I brought a laser lol
We got a visit from the police who could see the laser from the M1 and thought we were putting on a rave
Maybe 40 bikes
Steve vinoha brought some coffee jars , that was ace
No one stayed in a hotel
It got bigger year on year , with the support of our members and some great sponsors over the years we had a fookin good laugh putting on MK
Trikes playing drum and base at 5am
Dodgy ice cream men
We had a proper rave up one year with a PA from the legend that is bizarre inc and more rubbish scattered about than you could imagine
We burnt a Raleigh Vector
I passed on a set of boxed DX cranks for a tenner
Broken bones , ambulance , the obligatory wife who rides round the track and falls off
Catch me at MK for some more reminiscing lol

my first MK was 2010.at this point the lake ride was a very very small event, there couldn't have been anymore than 10 of us,hard to believe now!!!the year after it had grown to about 30,then the year after again it went ballistic and everybody joined in.i know in 2009 southern andy an sawzall did a lake ride with just  a small handful of peeps.the lakeride started as just a break from the track for half an hour, now its a ritual for every radster,i will trawl through my pics tomorrow to see if I can find any :daumenhoch:

Lake Ride . Not sure on year could have been 07 or 08 . This started when one evening myself Phil Sawzall , and Simon Cupid Stunt R.I.P. just on spec went for a ride and were joined by Simon Retrogeezer. We discovered all the lakes etc and were out for hours . The following year there were a few more and its just snowballed since . The year after Simon passed was very emotional and I lead everybody out at the start .
