So what's going on with seats?

When I started this hobby not all that long ago, a copy kashi aero or mx, even viscount ones in whatever colour you liked were £10-15. Put a wanted add up and within the day people were lining up to sell you one. They were plentiful

Now I'm on my second build of the year, the first build, yielded no results, just one offer of a tatty copy for new repop money, so peter robbed Paul to finish the build and the colour scheme was changed on the bike now without a saddle. To incorporate a saddle I already had. The second build is on its way and the feelers are out for a black or white kashi copy or dominator copy and so far nothing.

Are people out there hoarding seats, are they starting a build with a seat and building a bike around the colour of that. Are there that many old school BMX out there that all seats are now adorning them in the UK

Where have all the copy seats that no fooker used to want gone

As the hobby's getting bigger, the part pool is getting smaller.

It's as simple as that.  :daumenhoch:

I blame the seat sniffers, wouldn't mind but it's not as if the hobby is awash with fit lasses is it  ???
Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

guilty as charges. That's why I won't spent stupid money on a saddle. My enjoyment is riding not looking

Seats are crazy prices .. I remember the how crazy to spend £200 for a seat thread a few years back now but I've seen the rare ones fetch £300 on eBay now... I guess so many even in recent times have been put on actual riders and bikes have been knocked and seats scratched or cracked so the pool of nice minty ones diminishes daily .. Plus demand is higher than ever and the hoarders will always hoard...,

It's as simple as that.  :daumenhoch:
I personally don't think that is the reason anymore Dan. I think people are fed up with paying used car prices for BMX parts and are not selling in case they need one for the future, and don't want to re-mortgage their house just to get one.

This in turn leads to hoarding. I personally don't see the point of hoarding but I guess if people don't, others will just buy it and hoard. You can't take it with you when you are gone   :-\

Apart from the one bike I have to left to finish (just pads and plate), I am out of building for the long term future. I would rather spend these huge prices on my children, than a plastic seat that will be worthless when our generation gets bored of it all.

This is looking to be my last proper build as well, i may well upgrade little odds and sods, but cant really justify a grand+ for a full bike build thatll be ridden maybe a dozen times in that year
