Vintage Profile cranks and numbers...

In the very beginning of the history of Profile cranks, crankarms were numbered. Not by length, but just by number in order of fabrication. Now, I've found these cranks and they have a number engraved and was wondering what kind of different lengths the Profile cranks were made? For example, if I take a closer look at a vintage printad for these cranks, they say 170mm, 175mm, 177mm, 180mm, Special 165mm, 185mm, 190mm, 195mm (BMA Action June 1983). Now, as my cranks have number 182 and have measured them and they are 182mm from the center of the whole of the spindle to center of the pedalspindle. How do you explain this?? Does this mean that I have cranks of a different size OR do I need to measure differently OR is the serienumber similar to the length of the arms? PLEASE HELP!

I have second generation box cranks with the indent for the decal or are you only talking about the first generation box cranks?

...but how come that lenght of 182mm is not listed in the printad as mine are 182??? Perhaps I measure the arms wrong, could be...

yes... printad... of Profile probably you are not aware of this or perhaps forgot.
But I shall try to find some time to scan it for you.

Is it rare a crankset of Profile in size 182mm?

i have some gen 1 profile cranx and the only numberd markings i can see just show this (128-176) any ideas what this means ..

Well that means you have #128 and #176 pkradman!

So therefore I was wondering, as my cranks have BOTH(!) number 182, they are number 182...
but isn't it pretty coinfidence that the lenght AND number are all the same, while Profile didn't sold 182mm cranks? Or they did???
