Gt Pro Performer
« on: June 28, 2015, 02:07 PM »
Hi - I'm new to this forum and looking for a bit of advice.
I'm looking for a GT Pro Perfomer and have found a resonable looking bike on eBay. It has a frame number on the bottom bracket - DS50705770 - I've read endless posts about these frame numbers but can't seem to get a clear picture of the history, can anyone help me identify what year this bike is and were(?) it was made.
Also are were these early bikes only available as pro performers or could you also get just a performer?
Any help is much appriciated. If anyone knows of any other good original pro performers for sale please shout.

Thanks

It's a Jap made 85.
Is it worth the buy it now?
Depends if you're anal about parts.
Some poor parts some nice parts.
If you're going to replace them the cost has just increased.
Will you get the cash back selling the poor parts? No.
Is it worth it to ride as is? Probably.

Thanks for the reply - really appreciated.
Out of interest what are the poor parts and what are the nice parts?
The other issue with the bike is that its in Scotland, which for me is too far away to go and view it.

Nice F&F but that's about all to see here, if you want a really nice Performer. There are plenty of 85 performer's about so don't rush into buy would be my thoughts. I would expect a sweet 85 F&F to fetch between £250-£300. An 84 add £100, as they seem to be a fair bit rarer (for Performers that is)

At the end of the day, these were a massive success for GT, so there are plenty about ;)

By the way early 85 Performers that are still US made, have slightly different rear drop outs, and the 84's only have 3 holes in the rear drop outs, and no cable guide on the forks 8)

I've got an 85 US made and an 84, that I might consider selling this year

Depends if you're an Odyssey fan, I'm not their parts have failed too many times for my liking.
The bars are bad too.

As Faze 3 said, good ones do pop up, patience is a virtue in this game :daumenhoch:
