Anyone interested in some british T45 seatposts?
« on: May 07, 2015, 09:35 PM »
Evening gents  :)

Ive been looking for a 13/16th seatpost for my Vitus and with little in the way of options i decided i would just buy a length of 4130 steel.
As the build is predominantly a French and British affair i thought a bit of all British T45 (much better than 4130) would be the order of the day  :daumenhoch:

It seems 13/16th is a bit of an oddball size but i did find a company that was happy to sell me small quantities of T45 at 7/8th or 22.2mm.

I reckoned polished, chromed, powdered or painted British T45 posts would go down well a with a good few of you so thought i would ask  :daumenhoch:

I could get a raw 400mm long post at around 15 - 18 quid a pop posted if anyone is interested  :)

Sixteen thirty-two. What is that? A year?   No, it's your top score on Pole Position.

What's the difference between T45 and 4130 Clint? Are they roughly the same weight?

T45 is lighter and stronger at the same quage Andy  :daumenhoch:

Typically

T45 has a tensile strength in the range of 700 - 900 newtons per mm squared
4130 has a tensile strength in the range of 585 - 750 newtons per mm squared

Sounds great. It would be good if there was a layback option. Hopefully those with a lightness deficiency would find them harder to bend!
