Elf frame resto ☆Finished☆
« on: April 27, 2015, 12:16 PM »
Picked this up from a former member called kifte. He assured me he'd had the frame from new and it hadn't been welded even though it looks like it. Apparently he rode for Elf and Curtis bitd... this was his practice bike and he had a pro for racing (he sent me a pic of his pro but think I've deleted it) which was a beauty.

As you can see it's suffered some serious chrome flake from poor storage I presume. Looks like it's been stood on it's rear drops as the corrosion looks like it's started at the head tube and run down the top tube and onto the seat tube.
Got the chrome stripped to reveal what looks like a build up of corrosion on the tubing.

In my non expert opinion it doesn't look like it's been welded and the front and rear drop outs are in excellent nick so not really sure it's seen enough action to have suffered any serious damage let alone a need for a major surgery. Like i said i think it's just a case of being poorly stored. Forks are very lightly scuffed but still in great shape.
Anyway sent some pics to Phil Sawzall who reckons he can tidy it up for me which is where it's on its way to right now then it's off to SBD  for powder coat.

I've come across a few pics online of Elf's in sky/baby blue which I'm presuming is a factory colour. This is gonna be a build for my lad and with us being City fans it's gotta be factory colours all the way.

Ordered some new decals from frog about 12 mths ago to be on the safe side.  :LolLolLolLol:

Will update as and when... thanks for looking.  :daumenhoch:

I've just stripped the forks of their og decals, given em a good polish and applied the new decals.

From this:

To this:

Just waiting for Phil and Dan to work their magic and it'll be ready to build.  :)

Right then... Phil Sawzall has done the business with the frame... even sorting out the slightly crushed brake bridge which i never mentioned before i sent it to him. Nice one Phil.  :daumenhoch:

It's now with SBD waiting for powder. Should be back with me in about  3 weeks.

The frame has arrived home today from SBD. As you can see Phil Sawzall has done a supreme job of tiding the front end and Dan's done an equally supreme job of tbe powder.

Excellent work fellas.  :4_17_5:

Time to build it now.  :daumenhoch:
