OM Flyer headset and BB help
« on: April 27, 2015, 11:40 AM »
Hi - I'm by no means an expert, so please go easy on me! - I'm looking for some sound advice.
A few years ago, I bought this 26" OM Flyer for a bit of fun. I've changed a couple of things - modern Shimano DX Pedals, brown Ame cam grips and a lighter SE seat.
I love this bike, but have 2 issues bugging me that I want to sort: 1st being the shocking headset and 2nd being the stock bottom bracket.
I've been looking at Chris King headsets and Profile bottom brackets...but which ones will fit?
Any help appreciated.

As far as headsets go, the standard no thread 1 1/8th King headset will fit  :daumenhoch:

I can't be to sure from the photo but it looks like a standard US sized BB and will probably be 19mm bearings  :daumenhoch:

Thanks for the reply.
So this headset should be the one then?:

And this bottom bracket - will it be ok with the std. SE crank?:

Yes to the headset but without better pictures of your BB shell i wouldn't want to say yes to the profile BB

Whats up with the BB? Its sealed so shouldnt really go wrong? Is it just the rough looking spacers? If so i would take them off and polish them. :)

No, it's not the aesthetics. It's just not riding very smoothly. Its a bit 'clunky', so I've narrowed it down to the BB. I'm guessing cheap bearings.

I had the same trouble with mine , especially the bb which is fooking shocking quality and sounds like the bearings are square !
