DB Identity help please?
« on: August 29, 2006, 09:15 PM »
Hi All, seen this DB survivor for sale advetised as a silver streak but not sure as it looks different to the silver streaks in the musuem. The gusset is smaller & also the rear chainstays are direct off the bottom bracket instead off from a wedge like on a mongoose. See pics. Any help would be much appreciated.

Also depending on what it turns out to be what kind of value do you thinks it would be worth?

Or super streak.

Ask seller too read inside rear left dropout:

pacer500 reads "500"
viper/super viper reads "cro mo" and some early loop super streaks

Its no formula 1.. but if it was dropout would have serial number followed by a baseball stamp.

Thanks, I've e-mailed the guy to ask about serial number and details on the rear drop out, so see what he comes back with.

If it turns out to be a Super streak or Pacer 500, where they any good and what sort of money should I be paying for it? The guys asking £150 for it.

Russ, if I decide against it I'll give you the guys details if you are interested.

Here's an extract from some Sandy Finkelman advice on id'ing

The BaseBall is Japans TM that's the ones You seek 1978 to 1985.

Yes the First Digit on Japanese DB is Year.

Serial # or Decals won't ID a DB from Japan it's the Design Geometry and knowledge of Product, so don't ever think of getting rid of me.

All Taiwan Bikes Ser # begins with F.

The Value is in the Fine Quality Japanese made Bikes not Taiwan.

Let us know what the seller gets back to you with

Ok, had replies now. It has cro mo on the rear drop out So guess it is a super streak, but serial # begins with an F so it's taiwan made.

Parts on the bike are as follows:-
the hubs are suzue the rims are araya fluted seat post aero seat diacomp mx brakes and levers fitted new gumwalls comp 3 copies db cr-mo handle bars db stem black mushroom copies grips.db 1 piece cranks db spider 44 tooth ring .original decals.

what do you guys think, still worth £150?????

Hang on my mistake
Most super streaks were three piece rear end (although some did have loops) it gets complicated..
Anyway my guess is this is a super viper.

£100 tops.

It does have all orig stikers and on the rear chain stay there is some off the sticker left which is part of the word streak, so hopefully it is a super streak. Oh well i've bid him and will see how I get on. I'll let you know.
