Frame repair, who?
« on: January 24, 2016, 02:55 PM »
Hi there,

Anybody knows who can repair a frame in the UK?  My Haro Sport has a hole from rust.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers,

Laurent

Try a PM to either Sawzall or Animal - they know their stuff?

And in the meantime maybe post a pic for us to look at?

So here are the pics.  The frame is rusty but there is only one area where the rust really attacked the metal and made a hole...

Another area near the head tube probably needs a weld too...

I hope someone can help me save that frame...

I've seen worse salvaged before now... can't see a problem in getting that fixed up.  :daumenhoch:

Hopefully shouldn't be too hard to fix. Get the chrome stripped, so you can see the extent of the damage fully, then get it done straight away so the rot doesn't get worse with the metal being raw. Steve (animal) or Phil (sawzall) are spot on. They've both done amazing jobs for me in the past, but if they can't help you out for any reason, send me PM as there's a guy i know who could sort it out. He's fixed 3 frames for me and did a great job. It'll probably cost about £30-£40 ish to do it. Another option there if you need it. If there's a welder local to you who can do it (just phone around until you get one who knows what they're talking about), then it'll save you postage costs too

Thanks guys, I am full of hope now  :daumenhoch:

Getting it done in the UK is the best way for me as I use SBD for powdercoating  ;)
