Hi, does anyone have access to a metal working lathe that can turn down / cut away a thread and cut a smaller thread onto it?

I have a set of pegs from an 88 RL that I want to fit to a 87 RL forks, but the thread sizes are different. See attached. I want the smaller thread size on the larger peg.

Its not for a rider so no concerns regarding strength, although most of the strength comes from the face of the peg / fork being together once tightened.

Alternatively, can anyone drill out these bosses and retap to suit the thread on the larger peg?

I would say the easiest way would be to simply cut the threaded part from the big pegs, drill a hole in the centre of the nut part and retap to the new size and put some threaded bar in the new hole.

You don't want to drill the forks of you can help it but it's the easier of the two options. I'm guessing the pegs are not aluminium? If that's the case you are deffo better of finding an Engineer to do it
