I have now sold a few parts from the fatgoose build and going with Team spec, these are some of the parts I have collected for the revamp.

I found a very original double clamp stem with toothed clamps that needs a little restore but don't have any pics yet until it arrives.

I will have one set of these parts anodised in natural silver



top nut washer and adjusting cone.



Used grips but nice condition.



79 stainless mongoose seat post.



Team spec Race INC bars.



smooth clamps for alloy bars.



Shimano 39t to be anodised natural silver.



Nos seat clamp.



Nos MKS BM-1's.

If you order these from Blowsion they estimate the postage at $97, I contacted them and they said continue with the order and that is only estimated and miles out , they will take out the postage once sent but it will be actual postage not the ridiculous estimate :daumenhoch:
They are also designed to cut down in the grooves for a desired length., they are for alloy bars which have a smaller inside diameter to steel bars.if you have steel bars then these are the ones you need below but will only give an extra 1 3/4" total.

Might be adding 2 of these clamps below, one on the downtube and one on the seatmast tube, the 2 lower picture clamps are for each  side of the bb and then link them with 4 alloy braces
Anodised blue of course  :coolsmiley:

I'm no engineer but I would have thought the blue sections would need a 3rd arm to form a triangle to impart any sort of rigidity  ???

I would say it has normal amounts of frame flex, my 1980 supergoose had quite a bit infact replicating a gate start it's just looking at it the bb is along way away from the tubing, don't want to have a case of power stroke, not giving any warning and breaking the frame , the weakest parts of the frame will be the welds where the 2 tubes fit to the bb.
Seeing as it has such a nice nickel finish and the frame breaking is repairable but will destroy the plating, so do I do it as a precaution or leave it alone ?
It may also go the other way in making it break at those points because i've clamped them to the bb, if anyone comes up with a solution or just to leave well alone, i'm all ears, I know it looks a bit of an after thought but it saves adding more steel to the frame and it will still look like a mongoose underneath it all.

The small gusset should cover that ok

Saw this reminded me of yours


The problem with this design is that your heels will smack the bottom stay and if you put your foot back in it's natural position it could be pretty painful on the up stroke .
Also it needed bracing the top and bottom stays together where the outside circumference of the rear wheel is.

The weakest point won't necessarily be at the weld especially in an old frame, it could crack 2-3 inches up depending on where the greatest amount of stress from the torque of the pedal stroke is, then there'd be other factors such as corrosion internally, so I don't reckon that modification will necessarily stop it.

A brace at either side of the bottom bracket to the seat tube would be what I'd go for in addition to the gusset if you are going to go down that route, that would cover stress caused by front to back, up and down and side to side movement.

I'd be inclined to leave it alone, if it breaks get it fixed, definitely wouldn't be drilling holes in it.

There's no drilling, it's all lightweight alloy clamps, sorry the sketch does look like i've drilled through the frame .
The 2 clamps are these using longer bolts for the rose joints. It's all removable and adjustable
This will be mirrored on the non drive side, this sketch is drive side only.
Would it make it stronger of worse ? you could argue that it could now be weak just the other sides of the clamps and fracture their. A very quick sitting on the bike version below.
It should cover front/back and up/down stress but it will still allow some side to side.
Might start looking like the Eiffel tower if i'm not careful :LolLolLolLol:
 Most flex will be generated though the Dura ace cranks

If I was going to have a brace between the seat tube and down tube I'd brace either side of the seat tube to the BB and possibly at the back.

There is going to be a lot of side to side flex because of the wider BB, that's why I'd brace the sides too.

I'd reckon a gusset in the front will mean even more pressure on the sides.

What about just the double brace from seatmast tube to bb, turning the large bracket clockwise inline with the downtube ?

It would work but would you want that bolted to the frame   :-\

How likely is it that it'll break?, suppose that depends on how often are you gonna ride it? how much abuse is it going to get? etc etc

Rather than rose joint you mean ? rose joint will only stop direct pull and will have movement on the bearings, it's supposed to be good for a frame to have some flex, I have the alloy parts I could even go from the centre of the front gusset (spacing it inbetween witha machined piece of acetal and join with 2 pieces of alloy bar down to the bb brackets, it's knowing where is the best place to strengthen, it's not goin to be doing big jumps or anything like maybe the od wheelie if my back has the strength to raise the front
